The sleeping blanket

Our wool blanket for restful sleep

"A blanket for sleeping has to fulfill several functions for me: It should keep me warm, but not overheat me. And I want to be able to use it all year round to save space and time. When I married into the Steiner family, I found my blanket: A loden blanket made from mountain sheep's wool!"

Sigrid Steiner

Materials and dimensions:

The blanket consists of 50% local mountain sheep's wool, supplemented by other fine wool types such as merino, carefully blended according to a sophisticated recipe. Animal welfare is our top priority. That's why we only work with selected partners who share our values.

The practical 140 × 200 cm format was deliberately chosen so that the duvet slides effortlessly into standard single covers. Because wool is a natural material, slight variations in size can occur during the manufacturing process; our duvet therefore tends to be slightly narrower. If you use bed linen in 135 × 200 cm, it will also fit - the blanket will just be a little tighter in the cover.

An elegant loden hem rounds off the whole thing: It gives the duvet a high-quality look and also ensures dimensional stability and a long service life.

For reasons of hygiene, the blanket is only sold in the matching Steiner 1888 box.

Cleaning and care:

Our comforter is easy to care for and regenerates itself thanks to the natural self-cleaning properties of wool. The best thing to do is simply air it out regularly in the fresh air - ideally every time you change your bed linen. Alternatively, the blanket can be hung in the steamy bathroom after a shower to gently freshen it up. Washing is neither necessary nor recommended. If a stain does occur, it can be easily removed - helpful tips can be found on our website (link to care table). If heavily soiled, the blanket can be dry-cleaned.

Small wool nodules may form during use. This is a natural process (pilling) with no effect on the quality of the blanket.

Features and benefits:

Our comforter uses the unique properties of wool: the wool fiber is hollow on the inside. The natural air pockets give the blanket a warming, breathable and moisture-regulating effect - a natural support for restful sleep and a balanced room climate. Thanks to its temperature-regulating properties, it provides cozy warmth in winter and feels pleasantly light in summer - a blanket for the whole year.

Natural materials, made locally

We have been manufacturing high-quality wool products in our factory in Mandling since 1888. Our blankets are produced in our family business - from the careful blending of the new wool to the finished blanket. Sustainability is not a trend for us, but a tradition. And the best thing is: if the blanket has served its purpose after many years, it is 100% compostable and returns to the natural cycle.

Proven for generations - our conviction for better sleep

We Steiners have been sleeping with wool blankets for generations - and we swear by them. The natural warmth, breathability and unique properties of wool have always won us over. With our experience and craftsmanship, we have developed a comforter that is perfectly tailored to the needs of a restful night's sleep.
